PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The Joint Municipal Shared Services Study Commission is holding its first meeting since Gov. Gina Raimondo signed an executive order Feb. 13 to address growing municipal costs.

Lt. Gov. Daniel McKee will present at Tuesday’s meeting, discussing the legislation his office is working on to facilitate shared services among towns and cities. Raimondo has said she selected McKee to head the commission because of his mayoral experience.

Raimondo has set aside $100,000 in the state’s budget for a municipal innovation fund to support collaborative, innovative projects.

Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien says he and other officials are particularly interested in a regional emergency dispatch service. He says Pawtucket is working with Central Falls on an emergency management project that is scheduled to launch within the next six weeks.
