CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire’s congressional delegation has written to President Barack Obama in support of Gov. Maggie Hassan’s request for a major disaster declaration for the state following damage caused by a January snowstorm.

From Jan. 26 to Jan. 28, Hillsborough, Rockingham and Strafford counties received between 28 and 32 inches of snow, breaking local accumulation records and straining resources. Hassan issued a state of emergency and more than 600 transportation personnel plowed nearly 9,000 miles of roadway. The counties exhausted their snow removal budget.

Current costs associated with the storm exceed $3.29 million statewide.
