JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Juneau’s Eaglecrest Ski Area has closed for the season early following a low-snow winter.
Juneau radio station KTOO (https://is.gd/eF4pcP) reports Sunday was the last day of operations for the Porcupine Chairlift.
Eaglecrest general manager Matt Lillard says the ski area has been operating on a week-to-week basis.
Warmer temperatures and rain have continued to melt snow on the lower part of the mountain.
Lillard says the demand is starting to slow as people look to other things as the weather warms.
According to Lillard, operations could resume if conditions allow.
Despite the closing, an event scheduled for Saturday is still on, and will include music, a barbecue, face painting and other activities.
