KETCHIKAN, Alaska (AP) - Ketchikan authorities say one person has died in a residential fire.

The Ketchikan Daily News newspaper (https://is.gd/ZoCdtE) says the fire was reported just after 7 a.m. Monday.

Fire Chief Abner Hoage says responders arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the home, which is located in the 2100 block of First Avenue.

Hoage says the identity of the person who died has not been confirmed. Hoage says the victim was the only person inside the home.
