LONG BEACH, Miss. (AP) - Police say a 55-year-old Long Beach man is accused of beating his sister with a broomstick, breaking her arm and leaving her scraped and bruised.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1xedufh ) James Randle Hall was arrested Sunday after conferring with a hospital on the extent of the woman’s injuries.

Assistant Police Chief Alan Bond says police were called to their home about 8:30 p.m. Saturday and found a 51-year-old woman had been assaulted.

Bond says the beating occurred after an argument.

He says the woman told police her brother “was crazy and he just lost it.”

Police arrested Hall on an aggravated assault charge.

Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner set bond at $75,000.

Jail officials couldn’t provide the name of a defense attorney to comment on the charges.
