MILWAUKEE (AP) - A 23-year-old man charged in the killing of a Milwaukee night club promoter has been sentenced to 17 and a half years in prison.

State court records show Johnathan Sellers also was ordered to serve 12 and a half years of probation on Friday. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1DLEIMI ) reports Sellers had pleaded guilty to felony murder-burglary for his role in the death of 27-year-old Christopher Gray.

A criminal complaint states Gray was killed Nov. 18 after he returned home to a burglary in progress at his apartment. It says Sellers and 17-year-old Melvin Jones chased Gray and attacked him with a hammer when he attempted to flee from his residence.

Jones, who was tried as an adult, pleaded guilty to felony murder. He’s expected to be sentenced May 8.
