PINKHAM’S GRANT, N.H. (AP) - State police say an 85-year-old man was killed when his car slammed into a snowbank and crashed in Pinkham’s Grant.

An eyewitness tells authorities that a car driven John Kovalik of Berlin crossed a double yellow line and ran onto a paved pull-off area before hitting the snowbank and becoming airborne. The car went over a steep embankment and landed on its roof.

The accident happened about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday on Route 16. The roadway’s southbound lane was shut down for about 2 ½ hours while the wreckage was removed.
