ST. PETERS, Mo. (AP) - Police say a man had pointed a gun at an undercover St. Charles County police detective before the officer shot him.

Captain Dave Tiefenbrunn of the St. Charles County Police Department says the suspect’s injuries aren’t life-threatening following the Monday night shooting inside a St. Peters house.

Tiefenbrunn says the 38-year-old officer has 14 years of law enforcement experience. He wasn’t injured.

Investigators are still trying to determine how many shots the officer fired.
