NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - Virginia Port Authority officials say revenues took a hit from bad weather in February.

The Daily Press (https://bit.ly/1xv4Auo ) says officials reported a February operating loss of $560,000 at an authority board meeting on Tuesday.

Authority CEO and executive director John F. Reinhart says a winter storm affected every phase of the port’s operation.

The port closed for four days in February because of the weather. Bitter cold and icy conditions hampered productivity when operations resumed.

Container volume fell by 1 percent because of the weather-related closures.

Even with the loss, year-to-date profits for the fiscal year topped $4.6 million, compared to a $16.6 million loss posted over the same period in fiscal year 2014.
