SAN DIEGO (AP) - The retrial of a San Diego County woman accused of shooting and killing her schoolteacher husband has been postponed because she’s due to give birth soon.

U-T San Diego (https://bit.ly/1BcJQDt) reports that a judge on Monday agreed to delay the next trial of 41-year-old Julie Harper that was scheduled to start April 15. The move came after Harper’s doctor said the pregnancy was high-risk and the trial could prove unhealthy for her and the child.

Harper’s attorney says she is pregnant as a result of in-vitro fertilization. It’s not clear whether the father is her late husband, and a judge said it’s too early to determine whether a jury should know about the pregnancy.

In October a judge declared a mistrial after jurors couldn’t agree on second-degree murder and manslaughter counts against Harper for the 2012 killing of her husband, Jason.
