NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - A global company that manufactures air compressors and disc brakes for commercial vehicles is expanding to a new site in North Charleston, investing $17 million and creating 50 new jobs.

WABCO announced on Wednesday that it is relocating its existing South Carolina compressor manufacturing operations to a new location in North Charleston.

The company now employs 175 people at its current plant.

The expansion will allow the company to meet increased demand for air compressors and braking components for trucks, buses and trailers. Hiring for the new jobs is expected to begin by year’s end.
