SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A Sioux Falls man accused of robbing a bank at gunpoint is to be prosecuted in federal court.

Acting U.S. Attorney Randy Seiler says 45-year-old Rickey Starks was indicted last week by a federal grand jury for bank robbery. He pleaded not guilty.

Police allege that Starks entered Dacotah Bank earlier this month with a gun and demanded cash. He was arrested the next day following a brief standoff at his apartment.

If convicted, Starks could get up to 20 years in prison and have to pay a $250,000 fine.

Minnehaha County State’s Attorney tells the Argus Leader the state charges against Starks were dismissed last week. He says the case is being prosecuted federally because the bank is insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.
