MIAMI (AP) - Police say a 10-year-old boy was fatally shot in the head as he stood outside an apartment building in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood.

A young girl standing nearby also was grazed by a bullet in the Tuesday night shooting. Both children were taken to the hospital, where the boy was pronounced dead. The girl is expected to recover from her injuries.

Sgt. Freddie Cruz told the Miami Herald (https://hrld.us/1BLK7MO ) police have no leads and are trying to determine whether the children were targeted. He’s asking for the community’s help in solving the crime.

The shooting occurred two hours after two 16-year-olds were shot in another Miami neighborhood. One of the teens died. Cruz says It’s unclear whether the shooting are related.

Investigations continue in both cases.
