NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard Academy is planning a memorial service to honor two cadets from the nation of Georgia who died in a car crash.

The service at the academy’s New London campus is scheduled for April 1.

The March 7 crash in Hopewell Township, New Jersey, took the lives of 1st Class Cadet Soso Makaridze and 3rd Class Cadet Besarion Gorjoladze.

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, U.S. Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Paul Zukunft, representatives from the Republic of Georgia and members of the cadets’ families are scheduled to attend.

The ceremony will consist of a rifle volley from the U.S. Coast Guard Honor Guard and music provided by the U.S. Coast Guard Band and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Glee Club.
