FREEPORT, Texas (AP) - The Coast Guard has rescued four people from a disabled 32-foot pleasure boat in the Gulf of Mexico off Texas.

Coast Guard officials say nobody was hurt in Tuesday’s helicopter-assisted effort about 65 miles southeast of Freeport.

A radio beacon from the Special K III helped lead the Coast Guard to the area. A helicopter crew located the vessel after the boaters fired flares.

A rescue swimmer was lowered and helped each of the boaters into a basket to be hoisted into the chopper and transported to Galveston.

A Coast Guard cutter was towing the disabled vessel back to Freeport.
