HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - The Garland County sheriff’s office is warning residents of a phone call scam involving failure to report for jury duty.

Authorities say residents have received calls from an individual pretending to work with the sheriff’s office. The impostor tells residents that there are warrants out for their arrest for not reporting to jury duty.

In order to avoid arrest, the caller says victims should purchase a $500 debit card and call them back with the number of the card and its pin number.

Sheriff Mike McCormick urges residents to beware of any phone call that attempts to solicit personal information or money.
