LASALLE, Ill. (AP) - A car dealership and Illinois Veterans Home nurses teamed up to give a man in LaSalle a ride in a Cadillac to celebrate his 100th birthday.

The (LaSalle) News-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1CaCMd7 ) that Vinnie Sabino marked the milestone birthday with the car ride Tuesday through LaSalle and Peru. Sabino waved to a crowd of well-wishers as the ride started. He’s a native of Streator and an Army veteran. He took the Cadillac CTS ride thanks to chauffeur Brad Vogelgesang of Jeff Perry Buick GMC.

Sabino says “common sense” is the key to living a century.
