UNITY, Maine (AP) - The special education director of a Maine school district is on paid administrative leave in the wake of his arrest on domestic violence charges.

WZON-AM reports 43-year-old John Malley faces a host of domestic violence and weapons charges stemming from an incident at his Augusta home earlier this month. Malley was also arrested on similar charges in 2013. He was given a deferred sentence that would keep him out of jail if he didn’t commit any more crimes.

The school district is Regional School Unit 3, which serves 11 communities in central Maine including Unity, Waldo and Knox.

Malley is due back in court May 4. A reporter’s phone message for Malley was not returned.
