PICKENS, S.C. (AP) - A Greenville man has been charged in a wreck that killed his teenage passenger.

Local media outlets report that 20-year-old Nathaniel Blackwell was charged Tuesday with reckless homicide.

Authorities say Blackwell was driving east on Crestview Road near Easley four months ago when he passed on a double yellow line and lost control.

Troopers said the pickup truck ran off the road and overturned. Seventeen-year-old Cory Edward Mathis, of Belton, was thrown from the truck and died at the scene. Blackwell and two other teenage passengers were taken to the hospital for their injuries.

Cpl. Bill Rhyne says it’s taken this long to bring charges so troopers could complete their investigation.

Blackwell was given a $20,000 personal recognizance bond, and it wasn’t known if he had an attorney.
