BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - A 12-year-old Boulder County girl accused of trying to poison her mother with bleach after her iPhone privileges were stripped has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and second-degree assault.

The Daily Camera reported Wednesday (https://bit.ly/1BrxZRi ) that District Attorney Stan Garnett has no plans to consider moving the case out of juvenile court.

The sheriff’s office says the girl put bleach into her mother’s breakfast smoothie March 2, leaving the woman feeling ill. Investigators say later in the week the girl poured bleach into a water carafe her mother kept in the bedroom.

On the first occasion, the mother smelled bleach and thought her daughter used it to clean the glass. On the second, the mother told authorities she confronted her daughter and learned of her plans.
