SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - An 85-year-old Navy veteran has a new, donated wheelchair after his was stolen from a Utah thrift store.

Police say Taylorsville officials presented Roy Feragen (FER-i-gan) with the new motorized wheelchair in a surprise ceremony Tuesday. His disappeared March 18, after he left it outside the store to shop because he is able to walk short distances.

Unified police Lt. Justin Hoyal says Feragen returned about 20 minutes later to find the chair missing and investigators are looking for a couple in their 20s who asked employees for a wheelchair while the victim was in the store.

After the theft, a spokeswoman for the city of Taylorsville asked the Salt Lake City-based online retailer Overstock.com for help. Company officials say they put in an order for a replacement worth about $1,800 within a day.
