ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) - Sweetwater Events Complex officials say replacing and adding more horse stalls will cost about $3.1 million.

Complex Director Larry Lloyd says the facility near Rock Springs currently has 284 stalls that are about 40 years old and deteriorating.

Lloyd tells the Rock Springs Rocket-Miner (https://bit.ly/1FUUpjG) that in the last year alone, the events complex had a 20 percent increase in usage.

The facility has to rent stalls to meet the 1,700-stall demand for the National High School Finals Rodeo.

Officials are looking at building 850 new stalls as well as other related improvements.

The matter came up Tuesday during a meeting of the board that oversees the events complex. No decision was made.
