RICHLANDS, Va. (AP) - Crane manufacturer Tadano Mantis Corporations is planning a $2.5 million expansion of its operation in Richlands.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe says the expansion will create 25 jobs.

The Bluefield Daily Telegraph (https://bit.ly/18Xnmic) reports that Secretary of Commerce and Trade Maurice Jones announced the project on Wednesday in Tazewell County.

Tadano Mantis chief operating officer Shiro Morita says the project will allow the company to hire more local workers and have more local suppliers and vendors.

McAuliffe approved a $100,000 grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund to assist Tazewell County with the project. The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission approved $140,000 in Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds.
