MILTON, Mass. (AP) - Officials say a 19-year-old nonstudent carrying a gun has been peacefully arrested after trying to enter a high school south of Boston as it was getting out for the day.

Milton High School officials said the teen didn’t get past the locked entry Wednesday afternoon and was detained when he didn’t leave. The school was placed in lockdown for about two hours.

Police said the teen also was carrying marijuana, alcohol and $3,000 in cash, and is expected in court Thursday. Police said they believe he was looking for someone he thought was at the school.

The lockdown rattled the town of 27,000, coming the day after police found an incendiary device set to go off inside a vacant house. There’s no indication of any connection between the incidents.
