URBANA, Ill. (AP) - The Illinois Department of Transportation says Interstate 74 near Urbana has been reopened after inspections found the damage to an overpass caused by a semitrailer was cosmetic.

Department spokesman Brian Williamson said the interstate was fully open again around 4:30 p.m.

Illinois State Police say the truck carrying an oversized load ran into the overpass at Champaign County Road just after noon Wednesday. Two cars driving on the interstate ran into a chunk of concrete knocked off the overpass, but no one was injured.

The westbound side of I-74 was partially closed while inspectors checked the overpass. Traffic was backed up for much of the afternoon.
