NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say three leaders of an international narcotics ring have pleaded guilty in New York City.

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and Police Commissioner William Bratton announced the pleas Thursday by Yadeta Berki of the United Kingdom, and Bayan Yusuf and Ahmed Adem, both of Rochester, New York.

Thirteen other defendants have pending cases and another is at large.

The ring flooded parts of New York, Massachusetts and Ohio with several tons of khat (kaht) from Yemen, Kenya and Ethiopia.

It was shipped through the United Kingdom, China, the Netherlands and Belgium.

Proceeds were laundered through Minnesota and wired to locations abroad, including Dubai and England.

Berki will be sentenced to three years in prison; the others will get two years. The charge was attempted operating as a major trafficker.
