ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - Most people on Interstate 270 in the morning are in a hurry. But one baby was so ready to greet the world, he didn’t bother waiting for his mother to reach a hospital.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer says the baby boy was born early Thursday along I-270 near Shady Grove Road in the Rockville area.

Piringer says paramedics took the newborn and his mother to an area hospital, where both are doing well.
