CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - An Ethete woman has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for killing her newborn baby a year ago.

U.S. District Court Judge Scott Skavdahl sentenced Ardis Enos on Wednesday in Casper.

KTWO radio in Casper reports (https://bit.ly/1OAHnfq ) Skavdahl ordered her to receive mental health treatment and pay $3,700 restitution. The judge recommended she be incarcerated at the lowest security level facility possible.

Prosecutors say Enos suffocated her son in March 2014 minutes after giving birth to him alone in her family home. She was accused of leaving the newborn’s body in a dry ditch on her property and not telling anyone about it.

Enos was initially charged with first degree murder but pleaded guilty in January to voluntary manslaughter as part of a plea agreement with federal prosecutors.
