LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson has selected a Florida official to lead the state’s economic development efforts.

Hutchinson on Thursday announced he had hired Mike Preston as the new executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. Preston has served as director of government relations for the past several years for Enterprise Florida, that state’s official economic development organization.

Hutchinson’s office said Preston was part of a team that helped create more than 147,000 jobs and generate more than $10 billion in capital investment.

Preston replaces Danny Games, who has been serving as interim economic development director for the past three months. Hutchinson’s office said Games will continue as the commission’s deputy director.
