HOUMA, La. (AP) - A grand jury has decided not to indict a Terrebonne Parish sheriff’s deputy who shot and killed a teenager last year.

The Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1xiwCZC ) District Attorney Joe Waitz announced the decision Thursday after his office presented evidence to the grand jury over three days.

Preston Norman shot 14-year-old Cameron Tillman on Sept. 23 in an abandoned house near Houma.

The shooting happened shortly after Norman and another deputy received complaints of boys brandishing guns at the house.

According to Norman, he knocked on the door and announced deputies were present before Tillman opened the door while holding what looked like a 45-caliber pistol. Norman opened fire killing the teen.

A BB gun designed to look like a Sig Sauer .45 was later found on the premises.
