MILWAUKEE (AP) - Milwaukee police have arrested a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that killed a 61-year-old man.

Police say the victim, from Milwaukee, was walking along a street on the city’s northwest side about 5:40 a.m. Wednesday when he was struck by a minivan traveling at a high rate of speed. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the vehicle stopped for a brief time after striking the pedestrian, and then fled the scene. The suspect, a 36-year-old Milwaukee man, was arrested later that day. Officers also found the vehicle suspected in the crash.

Police expect to present the case to the Milwaukee County district attorney’s office in the coming days.
