MECHANICVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - Police have released the name of the man whose body was found on railroad tracks after he was struck by a freight train near the entrance an upstate New York rail yard.

Officials tell local media that James Pelton’s body was found on the tracks in the Saratoga County city of Mechanicville, 15 miles north of Albany.

Police say they were called to the entrance of Mechanicville’s rail yard around 4:45 a.m. Wednesday after the crew of a freight train reported hitting someone.

Police are trying to determine why the 42-year-old Pelton was on the tracks and whether he was already dead or unconscious when he was hit. No foul play is suspected.

Officials say Pelton had a wife and children in Poughkeepsie and was living in Mechanicville while working at GlobalFoundries, a computer chip manufacturer in nearby Malta.
