PORT HURON, Mich. (AP) - A transportation official says two drawbridges that span rivers in St. Clair County could reopen to traffic as soon as Monday evening.

Jim Petronski, a project manager with the Michigan Department of Transportation, says final inspections for the Military Street Bridge in Port Huron and M-29 bridge in St. Clair are scheduled for Monday. The Times Herald of Port Huron (https://bwne.ws/1NbDVWQ ) reports the bridges have been closed to vehicles and pedestrians since mid-January while electrical and mechanical upgrades were made as part of a $2.8 million project.

Although both projects started late, Petronski says they will be complete by the March 31 deadline.

He says the bridges will be open by Tuesday at the latest.
