MARQUETTE, Mich. (AP) - The state Department of Environmental Quality has approved revisions for Eagle Mine’s groundwater discharge permit in the Upper Peninsula.

WLUC-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1xi9hXQ ) that the changes were made in response to public comment about the permit, which provides conditions to safeguard surface water and groundwater near the mine.

The station reports changes include the addition of wastewater sampling before treatment. The mine is located in northwestern Marquette County.
