CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities have nabbed a fugitive monkey they say attacked a maintenance worker in a North Carolina hospital parking lot.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police tell local media outlets security guards at Carolinas Medical Center-University cornered the monkey Thursday under a car.

On Wednesday, officers were called to the hospital about the report of a monkey on the loose in the parking lot. The hospital says the monkey was contained in a bin by the maintenance worker. The monkey apparently attacked the worker and escaped into a wooded area.

Police say the owner was cited last March for refusing to turn the monkey over after being found to have an exotic animal inside city limits. For now, the Capuchin known as Carter is in isolation until health department officials determine what to do.
