BILOXI, Miss. (AP) - George County Hospital and a 20-bed psychiatric treatment facility in Saucier have received their certificates of need from the state Department of Health.

Mississippi requires any prospective health facility to adhere to a health department ruling that helps define its costs and aims to regulate inflation.

The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1BtyfiG ) Cares Inc. received authority for a 20-bed residential psychiatric-treatment facility in Harrison County. It will have six residential halls on 80 acres. The total expenditure for the project is $258,000.

George County Hospital in Lucedale applied for its certificate of need to renovate and expand its facilities with 51,000 square feet of new construction and a two-story addition within the hospital.

The total cost of the project is $12.5 million.
