JEFFERSON, Ga. (AP) - Officials in northeast Georgia are trying to determine what caused a fire to break out at a county government’s maintenance garage.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1NdsMWs ) flames caused heavy damage Monday night to the garage in Jackson County. A spokesman for the Jefferson Fire Department said Tuesday the cause of the blaze remained undetermined.

The garage was used for repairs and body work on Jackson County vehicles.

Firefighters were called to the burning building at about 6:15 p.m. Monday, about an hour after the garage had closed. Authorities say no one was inside the garage when it caught fire.
