ABBEVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say two men from middle Georgia have been found alive and without major injuries the day after their boat sank on the Ocmulgee River.

The Telegraph of Macon reports (https://bit.ly/1B5u7Iy ) rescuers from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources found Chris Hightower and Donald Sheffield clinging to a floating log on the river Tuesday afternoon near Abbeville. The men had gone boating Monday evening at didn’t return home.

Dodge County Sheriff Lynn Sheffield said a search for the missing boaters began after family members called 911 early Tuesday. One of the rescued men was treated for high blood sugar.

The men told authorities the river current forced debris into their boat, causing it to sink.
