IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - Iowa will honor Roy Marble, the program’s leading scorer, in a pregame ceremony on Saturday.

Marble, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2014, scored 2,116 points for the Hawkeyes from 1986-89 and led them to four straight NCAA tournament appearances.

Marble was picked in the first round of the NBA draft by Atlanta in 1989, but he played just 29 games in the NBA.

Iowa athletic director Gary Barta says the Hawkeyes won’t retire Marble’s number on Saturday. But Barta added that there are plans to include Marble in a proposed display area in Carver-Hawkeye Arena that will honor former student-athletes.

Barta says the display will be similar to the football team’s Wall of Honor at Kinnick Stadium.
