VANCEBORO, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in Craven County have charged a man with murder after a fight led to another man’s death.

The Craven County Sheriff’s Department tells area media outlets that 21-year-old Brodrick Lewis faces charges in the death of 21-year-old Dalton Campbell Jr. of Vanceboro.

Capt. Joe Heckman said Lewis and Campbell got into a fight at a home on Feb. 26. He said Campbell got in his car to get away. Heckman says Campbell drove down the road and crashed into a ditch.

Sheriff Jerry Monette said Campbell was stabbed and shot. Lewis was shot in the leg and finger and treated at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Campbell is being held in the Craven County Judicial Center without bond. It’s not known if he has an attorney.
