DENVER (AP) - A man who was caught living secretly in the rafters above a Denver restaurant when he fell through the ceiling has been sentenced to two years of mental health probation.

The Denver District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday that 36-year-old Stephen Graves pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal trespass, a felony.

Officers responded to a report of a man falling through the ceiling at the Yard House in early December. Graves broke a sprinkler head, flooding the restaurant and the adjoining lobby of the Sheraton Hotel and causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

About three hours later, officers heard moaning coming from near the restaurant’s entrance. They pulled back some booth chairs and saw the man’s feet sticking out of the wall.
