WASHINGTON (AP) - A Virginia man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison for traveling to the District to have sex with someone he thought was an under-age girl.

Thirty-five-year-old Ryan Chord of Virginia Beach was also ordered to register as a sex offender at his sentencing Tuesday in federal court in Washington.

According to government evidence, Chord contacted an undercover officer through a social networking site. Prosecutors say Chord believed the officer was the father of an under-age girl, and arranged to meet in Washington for sex.

Chord was arrested when he arrived at the meeting place.
