SEATTLE (AP) - Police say a man who fired a shot into the air Monday evening in West Seattle fled into a drug store.

Officers followed the man down aisles, cornered him and made the arrest, but he had no gun.

That’s when they searched the store and found he stashed it behind a shelf full of diapers.

The gun had been stolen. The 26-year-old was jailed on a weapons violation, possession of stolen property, and a warrant for auto theft.

Officer Patrick Michaud (mih-SHO’) says no one was hit in the shooting.

The man was with his girlfriend, their infant in a stroller, and the girlfriend’s sister. The women were questioned and released.
