SALLISAW, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says a suspect is in custody in the shooting death of a woman in her car in Sallisaw.

The OSBI said Tuesday that 56-year-old Karen Gregg was found dead in her car shortly before midnight Monday after a witness called Sallisaw police and reported seeing a man standing outside the car, then hearing a loud pop that’s believed to have been a gunshot.

The OSBI says the witness described the man and that evidence found at the scene led them to the suspect. The agency says the gun believed to have been used in the shooting has also been found.

The suspect was arrested and jailed on a first-degree murder warrant. Court records do not indicate that formal charges have yet been filed.
