CHICAGO (AP) - A public visitation will be held Friday for late Chicago White Sox star Minnie Minoso.

Minoso’s family announced Tuesday the visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. at Holy Family Church in Chicago.

A memorial service will be held there Saturday at noon. A procession immediately following the memorial service will pass by U.S. Cellular Field, the home of the White Sox where a statue of Minoso stands.

Minoso, who was major league Baseball’s first black Latino star, died of natural causes early Sunday. The Havana native was believed to be 90.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that any donations be made in Minoso’s memory to Chicago White Sox Charities by visiting www.whitesox.com/donate.
