PUEBLO, Colo. (AP) - Canon City police say a 42-year-old Boulder man jumped to his death from the Royal Gorge Bridge after posting his plan on Facebook.

Capt. Jim Cox says someone called police Saturday afternoon and told them the man had posted a suicide note on his Facebook page indicating he was on the way from Boulder to Canon City to jump off the bridge. A few minutes after the call, several witnesses saw the man jump off the bridge, which spans the Arkansas River at a height of about 950 feet.

Fremont County Coroner Randy Keller identified the man as Marcel Staehelin.

The Pueblo Chieftain reports (https://bit.ly/1NBmrU5 ) Staehelin’s body was recovered Saturday evening. The gorge is about 90 miles southwest of Denver.
