SODDY-DAISY, Tenn. (AP) - Firefighters have been battling a brush fire along the side of Mowbry Mountain in southeastern Tennessee.

Soddy-Daisy Fire Chief Mike Guffey told media that the blaze was reported early Sunday evening and winds fueled the flames so that the fire quickly spread to between 70 and 100 acres.

Firefighters from several area departments and the Forestry Service were digging trenches in an effort to contain the blaze.

Guffey says he hopes rain, which is forecast for the area, will help firefighters extinguish the blaze.

He says no structures are in danger.
