WASHINGTON (AP) - Gas prices in the D.C. metro area are down a penny from a week ago.

In its weekly report, AAA said Sunday that the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $2.39, down from $2.40 a week ago. The price is $1.18 lower than this time a year ago, when the price was $3.57.

The price of gas in the metro area is 3 cents below the national average of $2.42.

The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in the District of Columbia alone is $2.55, up a penny from a week ago.
