SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a collision in Scottsdale, Arizona, has claimed the lives of a northwestern New Mexico married couple participating in a motorcycle charity ride.

Scottsdale police identified those killed in the accident Saturday as 52-year-old Al Barela and 37-year-old Samantha Barela of Bloomfield, New Mexico.

According to police, the Barelas’ motorcycle collided with a car at an intersection during a ride to benefit Special Olympics.

Police said the Barelas’ motorcycle ran a red light and that they were not wearing helmets.
