DELAWARE, Ohio (AP) - A former central Ohio elementary school teacher has pleaded not guilty to 32 charges involving the sexual assaults of five students.

Thirty-nine-year-old Matthew Rausenberg on Monday pleaded not guilty to 28 counts of gross sexual imposition and two counts each of kidnapping and pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor.

Until his arrest last week, Rausenberg was a popular third-grade teacher at Arrowhead Elementary School in Lewis Center, north of Columbus. He resigned after his arrest.

The case came to light after a teenager reported that Rausenberg previously had molested her.

Rausenberg’s attorney, Richard Mayhall, declined to comment Monday.

Rausenberg could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted of all the charges. He remains in Delaware County jail with a $ 1 million bond.
